A couple of months ago, Dogwood Entertainment announced that the band’s lead singer, Alex Lauer, would be leaving the group to focus on his own solo projects.
He would return to the band in September of next year.
The new album is titled Dogwood and it is set to arrive sometime next year, as Lauer and co-producer John D’Agostino have been putting out new music in the interim.
Dogwood is the first of two albums for Lauer to record with D’Arcy.
Lauer recently revealed that the project is about being the “ultimate dog,” and that it is also about being a better human being, as he explained in a video for the band.
“I think we all want to be the ultimate dog,” he said.
“It’s something that I’ve always been really, really passionate about and this is a way of making me feel good about myself and my dog.
It’s also about feeling like, ‘Wow, I’m not that bad.'”
In the video, Lauer talks about how his dog is a big part of his life, as well as how he is not one to let things “get to me.”
“If it feels good to you and it feels right, then it’s the right thing to do,” he says.
I do things that are so stupid. “
So I do a lot of self-deprecating things.
I do things that are so stupid.
Like, I put myself in a bad situation by being a bad dog.
And if I feel like I’m the worst thing that’s happened to me, then I’m gonna change and get better.
And I think the only way that’s going to happen is if I get the dog right.
And you have to give me the chance.
You have to show me that you love me and that you want to help me with my problems.”
Lauer said the project was also about becoming a better person and about being “better human beings.”
“I wanted to be a better dog.
I really do.
And this is my chance to be that.
And to be someone better than that, I think I’m capable of doing that,” he continued.
“And I’m willing to work for it, and I’m going to get it done.”
Dogwood has been releasing new music over the past couple of years.
In May, they released the album You Are Here.
The group released its third album, I Was Born a Dog, in June.
